- The millenium wasn't overly kind to alternative music. We saw the rise of nu-metal, and then nu-metal gave way to commercial emo, and if you weren't sick in your mouth reading that sentence then you're part of the problem. At least we had The White Stripes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
